ICE Barcelona 2026 opened on 19 January at Fira Gran Via. The organiser's opening-day programme brought casino leaders and safer-gambling organisations into the same venue as equipment makers and technology providers. That mix is important: major industry shows are no longer only product catalogues, but forums for policy and operating questions.
A broad industry stage
The organiser listed a Casino Leaders Conference, an Innovating Lotteries Conference and a Sustainable Gambling Zone on the opening day. It said the latter involved 27 safer-gambling organisations from 10 countries. Those numbers are event-organiser figures and describe participation, not the success of any specific harm-prevention programme.
Equipment and connected products
Supplier material around the show also highlighted new cabinets, table progressives and digital products. Light & Wonder, for example, presented its COSMIC cabinet family and a regional debut for COSMIC DUAL. This is a useful indication of product direction, while approvals and actual installations remain market-specific.
The European setting makes regulatory differences especially visible. A cabinet, table product or digital tool shown in Barcelona may be built for several markets but needs local compliance work before deployment. Buyers should distinguish between a demonstration, a commercial launch and an installed base.
Our takeaway is that the equipment conversation and the responsible-operation conversation are increasingly held together. Follow-up evidence from regulators, operators and suppliers will matter more than the exhibition's opening-day rhetoric.
